Vegan Chocolate Cake

Last Friday, I was feeling a bit depressed. I thought it might be a good time to try out Jun's Vegan Chocolate Cake recipe. Jun is the most amazing pastry chef in Los Angeles. He makes kick ass cakes and pastries. So I am a little bit scared to try his recipe as I might not be able to give it justice. But i did.

VEGAN CHOCOLATE CAKE

PRE-HEAT OVEN AT 350 DEGREES F.

2 cups brown sugar (dark is better)
1 3/4 cup whole wheat flour
3/4 cup cocoa powder
1 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt

COMBINE ABOVE DRY INGREDIENTS IN A BOWL. MIX WELL.

1 cup soy milk
1/2 cup olive oil or vegetable oil
2 teaspoon vanilla extract

USING A HAND OR STAND MIXER, BEAT ABOVE WET INGREDIENTS FOR 2 MINUTES.
NO MIXER,BEAT IT BY HAND WITH A WHISK FOR 4 MINUTES.

STIR IN DRY INGREDIENTS TO WET INGREDIENTS.

1 cup boiling water

STIR IN BOILING WATER TO THE MIX.

SPRAY 2-9 INCH PAN WITH NON-STICK COOKING SPRAY.
DIVIDE THE BATTER BETWEEN THE TWO PANS.

BAKE FOR 20-30 MIN OR UNTIL TOOTHPICK IS INSERTED COMES OUT CLEAN.

VOILA! I think I scored an "F" for presentation, but I would give myself a B+ for taste!

Have u met David Archuleta?

"Waiting"

Ahhh...My very first framed photograph. This is just a random shot when I was walking around Central Park last November. I gave it the title -- "Waiting" because when I was thinking of the title, I stared at the photo and just felt that the benches symbolized a long period of time that I was waiting for something to happen in my life.

I was a actually bit impressed on how it turned out. I was also given a very much appreciated affirmation by the framing shop owner who was interested in the piece, saying if i do intend to sell it, that it will be a fast moving work. *blush*

I would love to showcase my work in a gallery. I dream of people looking at my work and then giving all those lovely affirmations of how i captured a certain moment in the form of a photograph. In time, I would be able to do it. But for now, this work of art will be hanging on my bedroom wall.

Top & Bottom in New York!

Top & Bottom, the super funny play that I did in Los Angeles and Proveincetown, was one of the finalists for the New York Theatre Festival. Yey! I hope T&B would have a full run in NY soon!

Waiting

i am here waiting
eager and hopeful
to see the ray of light
my heart beating faster,
faster than it ever did before
as the clock ticks
and the time fading away
the feeling suddenly getting less alive
eyes turning red
as the ones i had before
the innate patience is dying
as my hopes are for your love
the soul weakens
as the tears are about to fall...

...still you were not there

My New Model - Muhsin

I met Muhsin while I was working out at Crunch. He really is quite a looker and we became gym buds. I found out he's 22 years old, studying Architecture in Spain, a part-time model and currently in New York to study English.

Everyday - by Francis Galasi

Everyday –
Under the tired grey sky,
the biting wind on my face,
The random noise of people walking by,
The deafening siren of a hurrying ambulance,
The mosaic colors of thousands of billboards,
street signs
restaurants
little, big shops
The cries of hungry babies, hushes of comforting parents
The drowning, lifting smell of kitchens in motion
The barks of restless dogs in their afternoon walks
The honking of impatient taxi drivers
The indecipherable woven blanket of sounds,
smells,
visions,
unvoiced thoughts,
of plain living,
The restless momentum of passing existence,

The lunches and dinners,
The shadows and the sunlight,
The cold and the sweat,
The high noon and the dusk,

My standing up and sitting down,
My rest and my movement,
My waking and my sleep,
My hunger, my thirst,
My passion, my numbness,

Everything –
in every thing,
I find you there.

My First New York Fashion Show...

So I come to New York just like all the other gazillion actor wanna-be's. But the main thing that separates me from them is my passion! (tee hee) oh sorry, i didn't mean to laugh at myself.

Anyways, I got a call from my mediocre-agent saying that a certain designer is in need of ethnic models. Awesome, I love to be called ETHNIC! So i auditioned, sorta did the runway walk and I got in! It was exciting! Complete with wardrobe stylist, make up and hair! Woohoo!

I didn't get paid by the way.
I didn't get to keep the clothes as well.
Maybe next time!
